The Seattle Hotel Association is actively engaged in issues relating to the economic viability and safety of Seattle. The Seattle Hotel Association is interested in civility issues, tourism promotion, job creation, transportation and education. The Association also partners with Seattle's Convention and Visitors Bureau and the Downtown Seattle Association on issues affecting tourism and business in Seattle.

On the state level, the Seattle Hotel Association works closely with the Washington State Hotel & Lodging Association to ensure the lodging industry is well represented in Olympia. A representative of the Seattle Hotel Association is a voting member of the Board of the Washington State Hotel & Lodging Association. The President of the Seattle Hotel Association is a Board member of Seattle's Convention and Visitors Bureau. The current President of the Seattle Hotel Association also serves as one of three statewide lodging industry representatives on Governor Chris Gregoire's recently formed Washington State Tourism Commission.
